10/26/10

My body weight was at 230.2 this morning, A weight I was happy to see. I wasn't really feeling that great headed into training though, my sleep has been less-than-adequate, and I had a long day at school.

Deadlift- Testing my 1RM today, I ended up with 415x1 and 435x1. Both were easy PR's. I reached my goal for the day, but I was feeling great after the 30 pound PR, that I figured I'd make another jump to 445, and after thinking about it for a little, I figured 450 would be just as easy. I got psyched up, and ripped the bar off the ground with no trouble at all, and got a new PR. 450x1, a 45lb. PR. Damn, that's two big PR's in two days. My middle name might as well be "PR setter" haha.

And now I get to deflate my ego quite a bit with and even harder variation of my worst movement:
Front Squats- 185x4 with a fail on the 5th rep, then 155x3x8.

Shrugs- 245x5x8

Reverse Hyper- 3x12x4 Plates

Fat Grip DB Hold- 3x 30s x90# each hand

Turned out to be a great day, I'm really excited for this next contest because it has a Max 18" Deadlift. Other than that, I have finally figured out the specifics and weights of the other events. I'll be competing in the teen heavyweight division. Theres a 215# Log Press for reps (clean once, press away), 15# kettle-bell crucible hold (palms down), Sandbag and 150# Prowler Medley (on turf, 60-70'), and a 250# stone over a 48" bar. I was really relieved to see that I was capable of doing all these events, and maybe even doing them well. It would be nice to pull 525 at contest, but we'll see.

As for my training goals, I'd like a 275 OHP, 350 squat, 225 bench, and 500 deadlift by christmas. After this contest I'm really going to focus on my overall strength (mainly bench and squat as well as overhead press), with my goals for next april being a 405 squat, a 315 bench, a 550 deadlift and a 300 OHP. These are pretty tough goals to meet, but I believe I can do it. I've also started a new job, helping my mom out with machining some parts for her job. I make a dollar a piece, and do about 25-50 pieces a day depending on how many she needs for work. I do it at home, and I really don't have a schedule as long as I get them done. This money will be saved for college, with the exception of some supplements I plan on buying to help me reach my goals. It will be nice to actually have a steady supply of amino acids and protein powder again. Some upper body stuff tomorrow, I can't wait.
